Hello I am experiencing a wierd problem on my pavilion dv6000, the integrated speakers do not work anymore. I did not drop the laptop or anything like that, thought it might have been some software problem but after doing a system recovery I get the same thing. Nevertheless when I plug in my headphones, I do hear the sound.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you

click on your speaker icon in the system tray, click mixer, and check the settings there

I have the same problem in dv9230us but here only left headphone channel is working.

I can heard a pitch in speakers when NB boot.

HP say for me to send my NB to warranty service but im here in Brazil and just go to US in December.

If you are using windows xp, then try this audio driver.
" Fixes issue where the notebook speakers do not work after headphones or earphones are used for a while and then unplugged."
