I'm unable to get sound out of my back speakers, is this simply due to the limitations of the integrated audio?

back speakers? i'm pretty sure the nc8430 has only two speakers on the sides of the keyboard.

Umm... I thought it was fairly obvious that I was referring to external speakers (5.1). Clearly I didn't expect actual surround from built-in notebook speakers.

How would a 2-channel audio output magically output more than two channels?

Please keep it under control in here; starting to get a little tense.
