I decided to take apart my laptop tonight and apply new thermal grease. While taking it apart I see that only the north bridge 2 and 4 are greased but nothing else. It states here in my HP manual
"The thermal material must be thoroughly cleaned from the surfaces of the fan/heat sink
assembly and the system board each time the fan/heat sink assembly is removed. Thermal paste is
applied to the fan/heat sink assembly to correspond with components on the system board as
follows: the processor (1) and (2), the Northbridge chip (3) and (4), the graphics subsystem chip
(5) and (6), and three capacitors (7) and (8). Replacement thermal material is included with all
fan/heat sink assembly, system board, and processor spare part kits."
There should be thermal grease.... here is a picture were I took off the grease and applied the new grease but then found out when reading the above other parts needed grease but didn't have any on before........

Is there not suppose to be any grease on the circled parts because if it melts it will get onto the motherboard? Causing to circuit or some sort?
-
How about the cooler assembly, does it have thermal pads or something covering those parts?
-
There is one one, the very top left where i didnt circle, but other than that nope. This thermal I have is also non-conductive.. should I just apply on the circled parts anyways?
-
If the heatsink does not cover them it will be useless.
-
No thermal paste on certain parts, please look.
