    Hey guys,

I got my Dv6tSE a few days ago! Its been working well except for a resent hiccup. I've been ripping some music into itunes. Just a few cds at a time and I noticed with a piticular cd the blu-ray drive got very noisy and started clicking during the rip! It definatly concerned me and happened only with that paticular disc. DVDs work fine, it only seems to happen when the drive reaches a high RPM. Is this a common issue with the blu-ray drives on these notebooks? If there is a actuall hardware fault id like to take care of it under warranty!

    Help me out!

    Thanks!

My dvd drive also made loud noises and vibrations when I did my recovery discs. I've installed my AV with it and it worked fine so I guess it's fully functional. I don't use my drive much so it's not much of a problem.

It should be a audible hum but no clicking noises.

Sounds like the cd wasn't placed in correctly.

You have to make sure the cd is completely snapped in. Do a couple of spins by hand to make sure the cd isn't touching the surface of the tray. If you hear a couple of scrapes, redo.

I double checked to make sure it snapped in, and even tried the disc at seperate times and it still happened. I actually just had it occur again with different disc! Its almost as if the disc is spinning out of balance and causing the tray to vibrate....?

I can't tell you anything good. In my experience, CD/DVD ROM hardware fails far more often, quickly, than any other mechanical/electronic component. That also applies to stand-alone dvd/cd players I've had. And I don't even use them much.

    That sounds awful.

I got a dv6se from Costco that had the Blu Ray player, Mine would make a series of loud clicks every time I put a disc in. It didnt matter if it was a blu ray or not. But once it reached high rpm that would go away. After a few weeks the series of clicks got longer.

I took it back to costco and ordered my current one from HP, It doesnt have the blu ray player but it is very quiet and has never made a clicking sound.
