Ive got a new dv4t that seems to lose anywhere from 4-6% every 24 hours or so. I tested it yesterday-today by charging it to 100% then turning it off. This morning it was 94% when started.

Whats normal? Should I be concerned? The laptop is only a few short weeks old and has only probably been used a dozen or so times.

That's normal with vista if you use the sleep mode (that is the default). Its because it stores everything is the memory for a period of time and then it usually goes into hibernation after that.. otherwise your battery could lose it all at some point. Sleep is MS's way of covering up vista's bloat and long boot times when you do a full shut down. Hopefully when windows seven ships it will have a reasonable boot time and we can go back to just shutting down and save battery life.

But 94% is not bad. That's probably reasonable even if you shut it down. They never hold a 100 percent charge that I have seen.

That is pretty normal for full shutdown and then not being plugged into the wall during that 24 hrs. I started a thread about this over a year ago and others had similar experiences. It can vary a bit between 6 and 4% in my experience. Not sure why. If I were in sleep mode for 24 hours, it would be a lot more than 6%!
