My new DV9500t has a raised/warped area on the speaker grill near where it says Altec Lansing, right above the plus and minus signs for the volume. I noticed last night that there is a tiny gap where the grill meets the plastic. When I run my fingers along the grill its completely flat until this spot, at which point you can feel a bump. The rest of the grill has no movement when you press on it, but at this spot it has some give. Am I being overly picky? If it were your new laptop would you be concerned?

I have a slightly raised part on the grille directly above the fast forward touch key, as it does not sit flush.
I guess nothing is perfect in mass-produced discount laptops....... -
I do not have that?? Just check into it post a picture if it is really bad talk to sales rep.

Well thats just it its not THAT bad, but it concerns me nonetheless. Its hard to see, but you can definitely feel it, and the fact that I can push it and it gives while the rest of the grill is solid as a rock is disconcerting.

Thanks R4000, that makes me feel better. I really like the machine otherwise, much more than I expected, actually.

i think thats just how it is -
I have the same thing. I'm not too impressed with the "fit & finish" of the laptop.

From my experience, I'd wager that the 'bump' is caused by one of the LCD or WiFi antenna cords not being routed properly within the case. I saw that happen twice on my nc8430 when a tech 'rebuilt' part of it, and twice I had a similar bump.

I have the same deal but if yours is anything like mine - you're making something out of nothing - I can clearly see that its stickin up more - but can't even feel anything - I didn't even notice it until you said something.
Actually - mine looks just like the picture posted...BUT....only if you look at that angle....other angles it isn't even visible....really....that is nothing. Leave it be. And clearly its a problem ...no, a characteristic (not even close to a problem) amongst all... -

I have the same bump, used to concern me but I got used to it after wiping this thing down like a convict hiding fingerprints became old....

Mine does not have this bump. Still, if everything else on the notebook is working fine, I wouldn't worry about it.

I have 3 DV9500T's, and the grill is not perfect on any of them. Very close to perfect on 2 of them.
I think it is just a poor choice of design.

Normal, defect, or just too picky?
