So I bought a slice battery because I need the extra battery life, and almost as soon as I put it on, I could tell there was a drastic change in my E14.
The fan will come on, stay on, and cycle up to full blast and never really slow down or turn off, all on integrated GPU and idleing.
I load up HWInfo, and sure enough, my idle temps have skyrocketed to 55-60* C where they used to be 35-40ish.
Are you kidding me? You're telling me HP's brilliant designers made the slice to choke the airflow of the machine?

yeah. either that or it's on backwards.
The slice is supposed to have holes where the vents are (or was going to have holes where the vents are) on the envy 14 but *shrugs* -

Is it even possible to put it on backwards? I'll have to check lol.
I'd rather suck this one up and say I'm an idiot versus dealing with worrying about my laptop melting because HP can't design a slice battery that doesn't restrict airflow. -

It's probably "HP can't design a slice battery"
sucks, but what can ya do. I'm pretty sure you can't put it on backwards (I don't have one but..well doesn't look like you could put it on backwards. -
I haven't noticed any changes with mine on.

Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
I have tried running my Envy without the slice attached and it's pretty much the same as far as cooling goes. Perhaps there's something clogging up the ventilation holes in the slice you've got?
And no, you can't put it on backwards - the connector is off-center. -
Slice also does not negatively impact mine or my wife's. I would also recommend looking into the chassis and making sure everything is clear.
Not happy with what the slice is doing to my E14...
