As the title says, HDTune and Everest are not reading hard drive temps and other SMART info. I found a workaround for this problem. This is only for the nForce nVidia chipset.
The problem is the Vista nVidia SATA controller driver. nvstor.sys is the culprit. This link tells you how to install the XP version (nvata.sys) that will let Windows and other program access to the SMART hard drive info. I have done this successfully and now Everest and HDTune can read hard drive temps. I made a backup image just in case of problems but all is well. My WEI has not changed (still 4.6) and everything works just fine. My system is just as fast as it has always been.

Remember that this is a workaround because nVidia has not fixed the driver yet. Try this at your own risk.
