    Please help me.

Since the last week, I have observed my notebook heats up very fast. I recently changed the SD RAM to two 1 GB Corsair Value Rams.

Initially it would stay at 38-40 degrees. Now it goes on to abt 49-50 degrees. I usually shut it but today I saw it at 54 degrees. I checked the temperature using hdtune and speedfan, although I did not change any settings.

My notebook is HP dv2000t with 1.66 GHz core duo.

If it were a desktop I would open it and check the fan for dirt. From outside the fan area looks clean.

Is there anything else I need to check.

I recently got the Targus Chill Mat, it really does the job in keeping the bottom of the laptop from getting too hot.

55C doesn't seem all that hot to me. Maybe it's different on an intel system. But my Turion X2 goes to about 55C before the fan even turns on in my DV6305US.

Check all the air vents and take out all the dust. There also might be adware or other programs running in the background that you are not aware of

Thanks for the link and suggestions everyone. I appreciate it.

I have never opened my laptop before, so I will do it on the weekend.

Also will look into the cooler.

Finally, I checked using Spybot, and Adaware and there are no spyware/adaware running.

Do you guys think adding memory is causing the problem in the first place?

    Core Temp.

I don't see how adding RAM would make a temperature difference. It could just be from higher ambient temps now that the weather's warming up.

    55?

Mine goes to nearly 90 degrees at max load. (Prime95) >> It was warm in my room that day. It usually goes to 85 degrees at normal room temperature before it stops, never goes above that temperature. I can't open a hatch to get to the CPU fan I'm afraid. Suggestions?

This can't be normal! Turion 2X 1.8ghz, GeForce Go 7600.

I'd rather not get an external cooler, my laptop takes up enough space as it is. I've had no trouble with it whatsoever, I just think that the temperatures are a bit high. Everything is smooth like silk, Vista runs extremely well and performance in games is more than enough for me right now.

Still, a little bit warmer and it would surely shut down or get damaged. 90 degs is nothing to scoff at...

well what do u think can be done? if everything is normal and u dont want a notebook cooler then all u can do is just figure out a way to make ur room cooler or not run ur comp a lot.

the 95C thing though is bad, even if it is within working temps it is still not a normal temp one would get.

perhaps u should buy a cooler and use it only when u are running it at high usage

Can be done? Well, if someone can tell me how to take a DV9266EU apart or clean the vents somehow then I'll give it a try. Taking it apart might not be a good idea, but cleaning the vents could improve the air flow. I know I've seen some dust on the fan before.

I only get 90 degs when I run Prime95. After playing Battlefield: 2142 for a few hours I check the temp, and it's around.. 70 to 75 I think. Is that normal then?

why? is it filled with dust? use a vacuum cleaner, maybe one of them small dust busters.

search for the service manual in hp.com, probably dv9000 is the model or dv9200.

taking it apart MIGHT void your warranty.

    70 is ok

You should be able to find your manual here

I found mine and I had to remove the hard drive, keyboard everything. More than 25 screws.
I removed all the screws first but then got scared to remove my hard drive and other stuff..

Gonna just go and buy a cooling pad.

What temp would be bad for my computer?
