So apparently I am into yet another problem as bad luck just doesn't wish to leave me and my notebook alone.

This time around it is a weird problem where the Notebook freezes as soon as I try to restart or shut it down. It however does sleep when I try to. What could the problem be and how do I resolve it? I have already attempted a System Restore that was made two days back to no use.

It is worth noting that I had to force a shutdown yesterday when there was a confusion as the computer refused to wake up from sleep and i became impatient. Could this have caused this. What can I do? Please help!

rado do you have SP1 yet? Where abouts does it actually freeze?

You can do a repair install which refreshes all the system files

Yeah I installed the standalone version about the same time that it came about.

How do I do a repair install? Just can't seem to find it anywhere on the laptop or the WAU DVD!

you boot into the disk on startup

let windows files load then you will get to a screen where it says "Install Now". You should remember this screen from the clean install

Below it, there should be an option of "Repair"

I suggest backing up ur files, just incase..

The computer was able to shutdown if I attempt to shut it down as soon as the computer started. I tried that in the evening and it worked. The laptop then installed a few updates while i tried to catch some sleep.

Once I woke up I have tried shutting it down many times and to my shock there have been no problems as of now. Thanks a lot for the help flip. Will post back if the problem crops back up!
