I can get my Dv6t to 95c fully loaded priming and gaming at the same time. So still under 100c and no throttling in even the worst conditions, that said, normal gaming gets into the 80s. I don't know much about cooling pads, but I just bought the Coolermaster X2 because it seemed the right size and cools the whole bottom, not just one or two fan spots. It has not arrived yet, so all this is based on specs. I only bought one because there is a FANTASTIC deal going on it now at Newegg. It's like $25 with a $10 MIR, for $15 I will risk it not being the best cooler on the market, but it may be for this laptop since the bottom of the laptop just has 4 small intakes. Grab one and let me know how much it lowers your temps.

I just tested out the Coolermaster X2. While a nice an cheap unit, it only dropped my temps 3 degrees on maximum fan. It doesn't move that much air and the DV6T doesn't have many vent holes in the bottom for the air to get into it, and they are very small. So my laptop cpu still runs about 75-92 degrees during heavy cpu quad use and gaming. HP says that is normal and under 100 is fine for a quad core in a 15" form factor.
I think it is too hot, but realistically a cpu running at 90 C all the time will still last over 5-10 years. Sure if it ran at 60 C it would last 20 years, but who keeps a laptop that long anyways.

Haven't tried any others. I don't' think anything would help
much, unless you drilled air holes in the bottom!

I just got a new antec 200 notebook cooler and it drops my idle around 5C and load around 10C. If you look around enough you can find one for cheap like me. Got mine for $30 on ebay.
