I'm returning my Envy15 mostly because I can't live with the left column of keys and how hot the laptop gets on the left side.

But the Envy17 did help the decision process too.

I bought a 15 a short while ago as a potential replacement for my MBP 17. I could have lived with the 15' screen and no internal optical drive, but they screwed up the Bing 20% discount and sent G1 Intel SSDs. Also I just couldn't get used to the trackpad. So back it went. Will probably order the 17 on day 1 and pay full price to see if they've actually improved the trackpad as said in the videos. If so, this is a killer machine for me.

Of course my 15 arrived on the day the 14 was officially announced. At first I was very tempted to just return it and wait. Now that I've gotten used to it and fixed the trackpad to just how I like it I don't see myself wanting to return it. I would trade the better graphics for more battery, switchable graphics and a backlit keyboard, but I'm afraid after I spec it out I'll be well above the $1000 mark, whereas my Envy 15 has settled in at under $900 after all the discounts.

I just received my 15 about 3 days ago, and as it stands right now I do not think I will sell it. (Can't return. Ebay bought since Gen 2 in Canada).

Perhaps if it fixes the constant high pitched noise in my 15 right now, I'll consider, as the left side keys are quite the bother too but... we'll just have to see if I can get used to the keys. The high pitched noise isn't too much a bother i guess.

The high pitched whine along with the weird keyboard is making me consider returning it. Even though I finally got the touch pad settings just right to initiate gestures (50% of the time) it still isn't quite there. Who ever thought of shifting the ESC-F1 keys should be fired.

I was lucky with the $450 off and no problems. While the new one has some nice perks, the price/performance I got on this one was just too good.

Yea with the spectacular $450 off deal, I don't see that many people returning their Envys....but perhaps selling them! To those who got the deal, maybe it might be a good idea to sell them for a profit, and then buy one of the newer Envy models with the money. Just some thoughts :)

Mine was $655 off ;) 450 coupon, 50 refund and 25 coupon first delay, 130 refund for second delay.

As much as I'd love to have that backlit keyboard, rid of that extra column of !#%!#$% keys on the left side, and the E2E screen, there's no way the 14 will be equipped like my 15 for anywhere close to my discounted price. Besides, I'm loving a 1920x1080 desktop on my lap, 1600x900 might seem cramped again. I've been used to 13" models, having a 15" on my lap I can actually sit much more naturally on the couch.

As of right now my (replacement) 15 is a keeper. Never say never though.

Just fyi, those coupons of 300+ have been floating in and out for awhile now.

I'm gunning for the envy 14. If not an instant coupon, I can almost guarantee a bing CB between 25-30+ % will pop up again soon.

I'm not inclined to swap my 15 for the 14, which is heavier, thicker, weaker graphics and support for only one drive (2x1.8" one of the best features in the 15")

optical drive? Ugh, why? Look what you get, a heavier, thicker system with weaker graphics. It does have a little bit bigger battery. Just a little.

Switchable graphics was an expected change, but not worth a swap for 30%-50% more battery life or so. My system with non switchable already runs super cool at idle...
It is a good feature, though.

I have my eye more on the 17" but I'm watching both for the "wide view angle" displays and possibility of 120Hz for the 17". If either/or are true this system will have no equal in the industry. If BOTH (IPS and 120Hz on the 17") then... whoa.
