I have a Compaq NX 6325 laptop with a AMD Sempron cpu and would like to put a faster cpu.

At the moment the speed is Sempron 3400+

Could anyone tell which cpu's I can fit.

In the system info Control panel>system its says 3400+ 1.58ghz.
    It suppose to 1.8ghz.

    Does any one know why?
I have tryed looking in the bios and its say 1800. I cannot see any way of checking the speed setting.

    Thanks

    Pete

The nx6325 uses a Skt 754 mobile processor. So, you should be able to replace the Sempron with a single core Turion ML or MT series cpu.

The processor is capable of running at different speeds depending on the load on the cpu. Its a power saving feature called Powernow. Basically the cpu will idle at 800MHz and increase the frequency as and when necessary.

How do I find which will work?

I understand after research from your answer that the ML goes to 2.4ghz.
and the MT 2.2ghz. As the laptop is nearly always used at home the battery power is not really an issue.

is there anywhere that lists what the bios will see.
I have the latest HP Bios

    thanks
