Has anyone tried this on a dv6t? I know you will probably need a drive cradle or something of the sort but dont know about enclosing it since without the drive in, a chunk of the side would be out

I just recently did it. This is the one you need:
    2nd Drive Caddy - HP dv5, dv6, dv6t, dv6z (add 2nd HDD or SSD) [OBHD-SATA12-SATA-BU] - $44.75 : NewmodeUS, Hard Drive Caddys for Notebooks

You simply pop off the panel in back (move the switch one way to pop off the battery, then the other way to bump up the panel). Take out the screw holding the optical drive in place (the screw is near the Hard Drive). Then you can slide it out. Attach the 2nd HDD to the SATA connectors on the caddy. If you want, you can pop off the optical drive's faceplate and screw it onto the caddy. The faceplate that comes with it doesn't fit inside the laptop. You might want to tape down the hard drive because mine flops around. You can then screw on the top of the caddy, slide it in through the optical drive slot. Then, add the final screw and done. If you'd like to boot from it, press Delete at the HP logo and select the boot device option. It'll be the second option in the list.
