hi , it's really making me sick everytime to go and search threads to ask ppl about their 9600m gt and wich drivers they use and what FPS are they getting and then come back the other day and search for related replies
so i thought i can open this thread only for ppl who have 9600m gt , and i know there's many
maybe this way we can all improve our GPU performance and benefit from other 9600m gt users experiences
so i will start , my first question is does the drivers performance differ from OS to another OS ????
i mean if 179.28 are better for a 9600m gt user in vista than 185.20
is it necessary to be the same way for XP ???
i am asking this because i have installed xp lately and i thought i will get more FPS easily , well that's not the case .....

another thing , lv2go drivers 179.48 are 38 mbs and whql certified while nvidia officials are 113 mb and not whql certified , how can that be possible ??

and now please , for god's sake , can someone tell me what's the best drivers he ever used for his 9600m gt ???? and please mention the drivers that didn't satisfy you

dox's drivers 182.05 on windows xp
PLAYING medal of honor airborne 1280x800 and all settings at maximum , i am getting FPS 25 and up wich is a nice improvement over nvidia's 179.48
however my temps wnet up , after playing airborne for 3 mins my gpu temp reached 80 , and it remained at 80 for 5 mins , then i left the game since i am bored
    for F.E.A.R 2 , same fps (25 and up)
    resolution 1280 x 768 and settings on medium AA= 2x but temp = 80 (i don't know if it was going to bypass 80 since i didn't play more than 5 mins)
so guys is 80 too much ??? should i switch back to 179.48 wich gave me less fps but temp less than 73 ????
or 80 is not that high temperature

abt your size difference lp2go doesnt have physx in it so thats what makes huge size difference

im also using dox 182.05 on vista 64 works great

all on native res of 1280 by 800
45-60 fps in WIC on medium
50-60 FPS on all high no AA in Burnout Paradise
    50-60 all high in COD4 and 5
    15-20 in Gta4 on med/high

highest i hit my card is 66 degrees but thats running furmark to make as much heat as possible

normal gaming gives me around 55 degree celcius but thats with my homemade cooler

    i got a hp dv5t cto with a p7350 4 gigs of ram and i overclocked my 9600 to 680/535/1580

ok thx for your reply , finally some response
dude that's huge i didn't mesure my fps in cod4 or 5 (i uninstalled them since i finished them on veteran :p and i lend the dvds to a friend) but there's no way i can get 50 fps in cod4 lol i think 25 is as far as i can get (+ high temps) , did u do anything in you bios to allocate more ram as video memory ??? because vista 64 bit can read all of ur 4 gigs of ram but i don't think it will make any difference in our case

can you try FEAR 2 if u have it ???

    and one other thing , what's a home made cooler :D ????
and do u know if reaching a maximum of 86 degrees in hurtful to the pc or gpu ???
i think that this 182.05 differ from OS to OS after all .....but it's still way better than any other driver i tried for FPS but when it comes to temps , 179.48 was better
by the way wich physx version are u using?

uh well a homemade cooler is a laptop cooler u make yourself...kinda self explanatory...lol
basic i bought a cheap mesh metal file holder and hooked up a few desktop fans to it to blow air at my laptop

fear2:haven't tried it prob wont buy it, sry, not my type of game

temps of 86 in my opinion is rly high, have u tried propping the back of your laptop up with like a deck of cards or something? The air vents blow air down so propping it up might give you better airflow. Last what kinda surface are you using your laptop on. If its like cloth it can block air flow so i suggest propping up again
GPUs are rated to run at 100c but imo the lower the better right?

im not running any physx atm because none of the games im playing uses it so why bother?

    hope this helps

    edit:
abt the huge differences in fps might be because of patches to cod they could have optimized more recently which would lead to faster game
also could be the newer drivers

i recommend turning aa off for fear. Anti aliasing absolutely drains your card and imo i don't see a big difference in quality, you will definitely get better performance with no aa

    ok ths hustheman :D
i know that a home made cooler is a cooler made at home
i was just asking about ""what's in it " :D
as for fear 2 , i didn't like the game :) , but i discovered that after buying it :p
but since it's requiring then it's nice to test a grafic card on it
by the way i have windows xp (wich means direct x 9.c and not 10) you are using dx 10 or 10.1 i guess
but i was told that games run smoother on dx 9 beter than 10

179.48......haven't really felt the need to go into DOX (despite perf. figures...but i'd rather my GPU run cool than hotter)

get under/over clocking with these dets. what more do i want (apart from perf. that we all know we really can't get from a 9600M GT running on GDDR2)

i have same specs as you and i can get like 50 fps (i usually only check while im driving.) but you're right, it is a joke. the computer is practically overheating to produce such a bad looking game. they should have optimized it for pc more.

I haven't tried the new patch yet, but I get "acceptable" results from GTA IV. I don't even bother turning the shadow density up because they look so bad anyway and kill my performance. This game just really needs a quad core to run correctly. :(

    indeed
it's even more CPU requiring than GPU requiring
we are all looking at our poor 9600m gt (who should be a high end grafic card for laptops)
while there's anoter issue with the processor , gta 4 require a quad core or at least a magnificant dual core :p , and i was saying that i will not buy quad core since i will not need it and i will have to get 4 jobs to buy one :p
rockstart really ruined it this time :)

Mm. I had a nice desktop (9600GT KO, C2Q 2.4GHz, 8GB RAM, 7,200 RPM HD) and GTAIV ran flawlessly on it. I actually just traded my desktop rig for this DV7t. I miss the powerhouse, but eh. I like the laptop more. I'm getting really poor results with the 9600 in this thing, though. Of course I don't expect the same results I get from a desktop card, no where near it, but even on low settings COD4 is unplayable for me. I guess I just need to give it a bit more tweaking.

dude cod 4 will run flawlessly on a 9600m gt :) , and i use to play it with nvidia drivers
i guess with dox drivers it will work even greater
just download some good drivers and everything should be ok

yea, Cod4 isnt a real problem for this guy. you can run it on maxed out settings and get somewhat decent results. I run it on med/low and it's very playable and looks pretty good.

    yeah i played cod smoothly
and finished it in 3 days on veteran :D
the only hard stage was when i had to protect that hurt sniper for 8 mins (waiting for the chopper to arrive)
but i must say that i noticed a big difference in performance between stages
the first stages on cod 4 were "less smooth" than other stages , that's what i noticed , i didn't have rivatuner when i used to play it so i don't know what fps i had
