As many are going to start receiving their new HP Elitebooks within the next week or two, I thought it would be appropriate to create an owners lounge to discuss different things about the new notebook series once people have some real world time and experience with them. For those who do and those who will own an Elitebook, talk it up.

I'll start by saying I have on order and supposedly will be receiving this week with any luck the new HP Elitebook 8530p. I originally had one on order for my company, but called and added another for myself. I choose the base pre-configured model KS045UT as it provided the best overall setup for my budget as well as provided a better gaming potential (for those boring hours between classes) than the w series or the 6930p model. I had to choose to sacrifice in the weight category as this thing is estimated at just over 6 lbs. We all know about how well the manufacturer estimates when it comes to weight, but for the benefits of a better screen resolution, graphics card, an HDMI port, and an 8 cell battery I am hoping it is worth it. My specifications will be...

Windows XP Pro Preinstalled (With Upgrade to Vista Business available)
    Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 (2.4 GHz, 3 mb L2 Cache, 1066 Mhz FSB)
    15.4" WSXGA+ anti-glare Display (1680X1050)
    2 GB DDR2 800 PC2-6400 RAM
250 GB SATA II 5,400 RPM Hard Drive (changed to an SSD when prices fall)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 with 256 mb memory
    10/100/1000 GIgabyte Ethernet
    Intel 5300 3X3 a/b/g/n wirless

My biggest concern is battery life as I need this to last at least 3 to 4 hours. I will probably post pictures and write a review if possible as well as I may reinstall Windows XP Pro with an OEM disc to get a clean install, but that will depend on how HP has the out of box system setup as well as what the processes manager says. Look forward to it.
