Hey guys, I have an old HP DV8280us with a cracked LCD screen sitting in my desk.
I have just ordered a new screen for about $150, and since I'm opening the laptop anyways, what other updates do you guys suggest for like more $300.
Is the processor soldered or socketed?
The PC is using 2GB DDR2, should I go 4GB with WIN7 x64??
It has a 200GB hard drive with 5400rpm, should I go 7200rpm or try a small SSD with an external HDD?
Thanks in advance,
Andre Baracat

Here's the DV8000 service manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00701888.pdf
From here, you can learn about what you possibly can and cannot do. -
Help really appreciated,
but in this manual it states that the laptop is an AMD-based system, it is actually an Intel-based system!
But thanks anyways. -
Teehee.
Try this one: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00637497.pdf
BTW, I appears that the HDD in your unit is PATA and not SATA. So SSD is likely out of the question. Also your chipset won't support over 2GB RAM. -
Thanks a lot man, will give this a read!
