    Hello all,

Just yesterday I picked up my brand new dv4000. So far I'm loving it save for one thing: It doesn't recognize the cd/dvd drive. Not in My Computer, not in Device Manager, nada.

Inserting a cd or dvd into the drive does nothing. BIOS settings likewise.

I've got to wait until Monday eveneing to hand 'er over to the tech guys but I'm impatient and hoping someone here can offer a tip or two.

    Thanks in advance.

You might want to try deleting/uninstalling you ide drivers if you feel comfortable. Windows should see it when it reboots.

I'm not sure how it is secured in there... could there be a connection issue?

Follow the instruction on this video clip to remove and replace the optical drive. You just need to remove one over and then one screw, use a paper clip to pop the tray and pull the drive out.
