I purchased a dv6000-compatible 12-cell battery off of eBay. It was $70, so it was quite a bit cheaper than the $150 HP charges. The seller didn't mention though that it isn't HP-labeled and has no brand name.

Do you think it is safe to use, or should I send it back before opening the anti-static bag seal?

I ask because I know that with the PSP, the unmarked generic batteries are garbage. I can't find any mention of how the off-brand HP-compatible batteries are though.

Hmm, a difficult question. Well, ive heard mixed stories. My phone got wrecked with a no-name battery. while my grandmothers laptop battery lost its "juice", she sent it to this place where they "refill" the battery cells. or something and it works as good as new. ID say i wouldnt do it. With that new PC, i would nt take the chance, a phone is different. And HP wont cover you after using that either if something goes wrong.

You cant refill cells, they just replaced the batteries inside.

I wouldnt really trust no brand batterys. Specially when laptop batterys are known to explode. Return it and buy a HP battery, NOT from the HP website. Alot of online retailers sell authentic HP batterys cheaper
