Hi all...
I am a newbie here and this is my first posting. It is a little bit frustrating that I am writing this kind of first posting but anyway story is like this.
I was looking for my new laptop(I am using Gateway laptop which I got 2 years ago) and have researched around a month. During that time, I couldn't sleep well and I just read tons of reviews and your postings.
My considerations were... 14" WVGA and simple and sleek design and high end performances are not needed.
Yesterday, I realized that it's a time to quit this time consuming job and decided to buy L2000 special model. Actually I can afford upto 1200 dollars and I was thinking of sony fs series, toshiba M100 and asus z63a. However, I noticed that I don't need these expensive computers because specs were way high!! I just need sleek, simple and basic computer. I don't want to use my money for performance but design.
Finally, I ordered a L2000 at HP.com this morning ( AMD turion 37, 512M, 80G, Bluetooth with free printer!!) and then, when I came to notebookreview.com site........ Oh my.... New HP and Compaq model was just anounced...
I was really confused and frustrated.. I think new model's design is what I have been looking for !!! (simple and black!) If I had seen that before I ordered, I definately choose that one... But thing is... MONEY!
If I return my L2000 and printer and get new HP or compaq(those prices must be the highest at this time), it would cost extra 300 dollars. What should I do? Is it worthwile to buy new model because of its design? If I return my L2000 and get new model, new model's spec is going to be the lowest one. What do you think? Any comment will be appreciated !!
one more question... IF I open L2000 box and return it, how much would it cost when I return to HP.com?

Well, I'm not feeling completely well to handle the main question, but I hope you realize that just because the unit looks neat and basic, doesn't always mean that it is, visa versa is true. Just look at the basic Compaq business line. Compare the features and if you think you paid too much, then return it. If not, I'd keep the L2000. I believe too many people look at looks than what's under the hood. I myself do like the looks of the dv5000z I bought, but I also asked around about it before I made the decision.

You can return the laptop for upto 21 days if you are not satisfied with the performance of the laptop...
