I'm looking for an older business class machine to run Linux, but it needs to have the pointing stick, on what series did HP introduce their blue pointing stick? (less than 15")

An n400c has the blue point stick and no touchpad, I think they were P3-800's. The very similar n410c had a touchpad and no stick, P3-1200. I think after that they generally have both pad and stick. The nc4000 (Pentium-M) which replaced the n410c had both. These are all 12.1" screen with no optical drives.

The n4x0c series were good because you could get a mobile expansion base which clipped on the bottom. This gave you two true IDE multibays, I had one running 4 batteries at once, and another running 3 HDDs.
