    Hi All,

Am using a Compaq Presario V3132 and my on screen volume indicator has disappeared and would like to know how to re-activate it.

Also, how do I disable all non-MS programs to reduce background running.

    Many Thanks.

    Cheers.

Are you running Vista or XP? Presumably you mean just the little speaker icon that sits next to the clock in the toolbar, right? If you're running XP, you just need to open the control panel, choose "Sound & Audio Devices" and put a check in the box that says "Place Volume Icon in the Taskbar". Say 'ok' and 'ok' and you're done. If you're running Vista, it should be a similar process, but I don't have a vista machine so you'll need to see if someone else can help.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for reply Bro, its not the taskbar icon but an on screen display which shows volume level when I touch the volume buttons. Its useful to indicate the general volume level.

    Am running XP.

    Cheers.

The on screen display was part of the OS(Windows XP MCE only). Make sure you have the 'ehtray' process running in the background and set to run at startup. This file should also be located in the C:\Windows\ehome folder.

If it is not set to run at startup. Place a shortcut to the ehtray.exe in your startup folder and reboot your PC.
