I got my first laptop last lack friday at BB.
So far I'm loving it but I noticed one strange thing.
Using cpu-z, cpu clock speed seems not stable(?). Ant not even 2.2GHz max. Currently the clock speed of mine ranges around 700 MHz ~ 1.8GHz.
According to the spec, zv5340us has AMD 64 3400+ 2.2GHz.

That shows that PowerNOW! power management is working. The CPU will idle at 800MHz, then jump to 1.8GHz or 2.2GHz (in your case) as needed. If you're running on battery the max speed will be 1.8GHz (I think) since that's MUCH more power-efficient than full speed. Do something to max out the CPU (fast-forwarding a Quicktime video is my favorite test) and you should see the CPU hit 2.2GHz. Very few apps are demanding enough to stress an Athlon 64 CPU.
MobileMeter is my favorite monitoring app. I leave it running all the time.Last edited by a moderator: May 5, 2015 -
Thanks.
So powernow works no matter what (AC or battery) is used.
Is there any option (probably in BIOS) to turn powernow off when using AC power? -

PowerNOW! is a good thing. Any performance difference is only detectable by benchmark programs. You will notice the MUCH cooler operation of the notebook though. Like alekkh said, you can disable it easily ("Always On" being my preferred way of doing that), but I recommend leaving your notebook set to "Portable/Laptop".
One strange thing with my zv5340us
