I've just bought a nice fast solid state disk (SSD) with SATA-3 (6Gb/s) for my new HP Pavilion dv7-6015tx.
Except now I'm having difficulty finding out if the SATA controller in the laptop is SATA-2 or SATA-3. (It doesn't have a formatted drive in it at the moment so I can't ask it, and specs on the net don't seem to say much.)
Question 1: Will a SATA-3 SSD work with a SATA-2 controller in the laptop?
Question 2: Which controller does the dv7-6015tx have?
Thanks!

Thanks
that answered both questions in one.
Do you have a URL to comprehensive specs? I have not been able to find a good reference page on the dv7-6015tx ... -
I had similar questions to you and was referred to this utility. Seems that both bays (at least for my dv6-6xxx) are SATAIII

Thanks for that!
Oops, is dv7-6015tx SATA 2 or 3?
