If anyone didn't already know, HP recently (in the last few days) started offering a choice of two color/design choices on dv4, dv5 and dv7 models- they are called "Onyx" (the Black and Chrome look standard on all dv4, dv5 and dv7 models until very recently) or "Bronze" (haven't seen one in person, so I'd be very interested to hear a detailed description of what the LCD cover/lid and the keyboard/interior look like). The photos I've seen of the Bronze scheme don't show enough detail, but the exterior design looks interesting.

    Thoughts or opinions?

FYI- Onyx is the default on all and Bronze is a $25 option. If nothing else, it's cool to see HP offering a variety of exterior designs on garden variety models and not just Special Editions. Now if they'd just bring back the Verve design from the dv2700t Special Edition, I'd be buying!

"Unique", eh? Do I sense a touch of sarcasm?

Regardless of how good or bad it looks, it's bound to look great if you sit it next to the dv4t Special Edition!

i think anything looks better than the se ... i hear that even most women don't even like the design, and i think that's who it was designed for. well, i don't know t hat for sure, but it sure doesn't look like a guys laptop.

i wish they'd put more pictures of the computers on the hp site.. or am i just missing them?

They have pictures of each model, but they suck! It's impossible to see subtle patterns or even good views of the keyboard in most of the shots!

I'd imagine that the dv4 SE isn't selling very well...it's not as bad as the dv2800t Artist Edition, but it ranks right up there! I'm not sure which is worse, the dv2800t Artist Edition of the "Mike Ming" versions of the Dell Inspiron and Studio! ***??? I think the people who approve these wake up in the morning and gargle with bong water or something! :p :D

I don't think it looks that bad, but I wouldn't order it. I think the Black and chrome looks awesome. A coworker has the DV7T and it looks hot.

Best Buy have been selling the bronze models for a while now. The bronze is more of a yellowish/orange tarnish to the silver, more like a polished copper-alloy heatsink than the shiny gold you see on the website photo. The lid pattern is a nice design with a warm tan-like color. They definitely look different than the standard silver/black models and give a more upscale/luxurious image - I'm guessing HP went after the "executive" look. Looks are subjective, though. Others opinion may differ than mine.

Hop on down to your local Best Buy if you wanna take a side-by-side look.

The dv3500t (or dv3510nr, to be specific) is one of the Best Buy "Blue Label" exclusive models. If I'm not mistaken, it's only available in Bronze. The Best Buy website is down for maintenance at the moment. I think I remember seeing the dv7-1175nr on the Best Buy site, also in Bronze. Circuit City has this dv5-1113us and it the keyboard/trim looks very tasteful (if it is the same hue as it appears in the photo). I've seen a photo of the LCD cover/lid and I loved the looks of it. My concern has been how the interior looks. My concern was that the interior trim would be a tacky yellow-gold or, even worse, shiny brass color.

Im planning to order my a new HP dv4t for my nephew in the next few weeks. The glossy black lid on the Onyx models would be impossible for him to keep clean all the time. I went thru that with an older HP dv9000t that I previously owned. Maybe the Bronze will be a viable option.

I'll have to venture into Best Buy in the next few days, I suppose! I anticipate going into a Best Buy or Circuit City store with the same disdain as visiting a car dealership to "just look". Maybe I'll take some Mace this time..... :D :D :D

Ive seen the dv7-1175nr at bestbuy im thinking about selling the dv4t in my specs for it. I dont like the color that much but its not that bad i can always replace the panels if i really dislike it. One thing i hear is the bronze / brown keyboard has bad contrast with the white lettering

Pewter would be a cool looking trim, I bet...a charcoal gray LCD cover/lid and pewter colored trim inside. Maybe HP will read this! lol

So long as it's not more expensive souly for the colour and the specs are the same it's an interesting idea for those who prefer the colour.

But I prefer my dv5's sleek Silver/Black design personally :p

I stopped by Best Buy for a few minutes yesterday and checked out the Bronze trim. I really like the design and color of the lid when closed. The keyboard and surrounding trim didn't impress me, though. But it was gorgeous compared to the godawful dv4 Special Edition!
