I am looking at this laptop because I am going to college next year, and this one seems to have the best deal, especially with the 33% off coupon. I will be using it for all engineering purposes ( stuff like MATLAB etc. ) as well as gaming ( games such as CS Source, and BF3 when it comes out ).

With that in mind, I would like some feedback on the options I have selected to see if I need to upgrade the machine more, or if some of the upgrades I have are not needed. Keep in mind this will also have to last me 4-6 years ( or the majority of my time in college )

    -2nd generation Intel(R) Quad Core(TM) i7-2720QM (2.2 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) w/Turbo Boost up to 3.3 GHz or should I get the 2820QM?
    - 1GB GDDR5 Radeon(TM) HD 6770M Graphics is the 2GB needed?
    -6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm) or should I get 8gb?
-1TB 5400RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    - Microsoft(R) Office Home and Student 2010
    -One 6-Cell and One 9-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery
    -15.6" diagonal Full HD HP Anti-glare LED Display (1920 x 1080)
-Intel 802.11b/g/n WLAN with Wireless Display Support

Thanks! ( And if this is in the wrong forum let me know )

go with 1G video memory. 2 isn't necessary.

get as much ram as you can, so "yes", get 8

the 2720 is pretty zippy and the upgrade costs to much for too little in return.

Remember--you asked, so no arguing with my comments! :)

    Thanks :)

Anything else you would possibly recommend to get in addition to what I have?

Sounds great, but it is only half the memory... Would you say wait for these to come out, or get the set-up I have ( with the less memory ) and upgrade when they come out? I like the 600 dollars im saving with this coupon...

Opt for the 6GB RAM for no additional cost now, then wait for the Samsung 30nm RAM when they come out.

I'm not sure what you mean by only half the memory. You will have to get 2 x 4GB sticks.

$910 dollars is a lot cheaper than 33% off...

no. It comes to about $50 cheaper overall if you don't take into account the extra $100 I got off by haggling... I say all that because I ordered back in May so that I would get the good deal before the summer...turns out the summer has good deals too! :)
