My status shows "order in production".. If this is like dell, it can stay in production for weeks. Is HP any different? Estimated ship date 8/27. Can I expect that sooner? Or does in production mean nothing like with dell.
-
-
In production means they're building your laptop. HP is pretty good about ship dates, and there have been multiple confirmations of people receiving them up to a week early. Unless there's a part shortage - which is what's affecting Dell - you should expect your laptop to be shipped by 8/27.
-
Thanks for this feedback. My dv6500t is also in production and scheduled to be shipped on 8/27.

Wow, I will be impressed if they upgraded mine to Fed X overnight. I may actually get this on Friday! If that happens it sounds like HP is going to make me a happy camper.
-
You lucky son of a gun. Mine is scheduled for 8/27, and so far, still in production.
-
Looks like my dv6500t just shipped!
-
The date that HP gives you for shipping the laptops is padded. They always give themselves extra time to produce the laptop so you get it before or when they tell you. The nice thing about HP too is that when you are ordering it they tell you if they are out of stock and it will take longer to produce and ship to you.
I personally got my laptop a week before the ship date. It was like Christmas day for me! -
Its getting closer!!

Looks like its ground service. Fed X says it will be here on Monday by 1030AM..
UPDATE... its in MEMPHIS, TN.. I think I was wrong.. If this comes on Monday before 10:30AM.. that would be overnight before 10:30am service.... So that means free overnight FED X service before 10:30AM.. I am very pleased indeed.
-
cool man, Mine just Shipped!! ill be getting mine next week sometime.
-
Its already here in Albuquerque at the Fed-X Ssort facility. I wish I could drive down and get it now.. But will have to wait until Monday morning. So far, it appears that HP has a much quicker cycle time then Dell.
-
My HP is at my local sort facility. FedEx's ETA is Monday. Do you guys think there is any chance they might bring it to me tomorrow instead? Do they even deliver on Saturdays? The Sort facility is pretty close, so I might just end up driving down there tomorrow.
-
I don't think you can pick it up in person until they try to make the first attempt in delivery. If they fail at the first attempt, you can call and have them hold it for you. Only then can you pick it up in person. Give them a call.. can't hurt. My last Dell was Fed-X as well. I called them to see if they could hold it for me. They said no.. only if the first attempt failed could they do that.
And yes, Fed-X does have Saturday service.. But the sender has to specify that before shipping.. and its expensive. Thats why they probably won't give it to you on Satuday.. they did not get the Sat premium.
As it is, I got free overnight and before 10:30am which costs more.. They also have before 3:30PM service.. that the one Dell used with me. I did not pay or ask for this.. I am a happy camper!!

nice, my orders slated for a 27th ship date.

Did you use the coupon? I see on the web site the dv6500t is more expensive now.. They took away the 50% off the 8400 video card and the free upgrade to 120GB HD disappeared as well. So right there the price went up 90 bucks! I believe the 20% off coupon may have expired today.
If I bought the same system today, it would cost around 1400. I paid 1088 so I feel pretty good about that. -
Ya I just tried calling them, and they said it wasn't available for pickup.
Oh well. Monday is fine with me.
-
Does it say before 1030AM service? That was a really nice surprise for me since I work second shift. The Fed X guy made me late to work last time he rolled up my street at 145pm with my 1420 and I had to turn back to receive it. This HP FED X overnight by 10:30am service is excellent. I did not pay or ask for this. It sounds like others are getting overnight as well on their systems. This means they are very aware of Dells backorder issues and are trying to strengthen their own cycle time to beat out Dell in customer service. Its working. Dell just dropped 5 percent in the latest consumer satisfaction index.. HP just went up a little. Dell, in spite of spending over 150 million to improve their pathetic customer care/build quality, has just sunk back to their pathetic 2005 low index of 74. This is a huge 5 percent drop and is one of the lowest in the industry.. Not good for Dell. Here is one link to this.. there are tons of articles on google as well: http://www.lockergnome.com/nexus/blade/2007/08/14/dell-low-customer-satifaction-rating-continues/
-
Mine is scheduled to be delivered before 10:30 am on Tuesday. Can't wait!
-
yeah, that was with a 20% off coupon code, also, anybody know how long the shipment takes from china to the us east coast
-
It typically takes 2-3 business days to get to you from China regardless of where you are in the US whether or not you got the 2 day shipping.
-
Here is my tracking information.. remember, once it leaves INDIANAPOLIS, IN it goes to Memphis Tn. That is the FED X hub and has been since they started in the late sixties I believe. That is where Fed X sorts everything and back out to all parts of the US. If it hits Memphis Tuesday morning you should get it Wed or Thursday at the lastest. If it gets there on Friday like in my case.. you get it monday since they don't deliver on Sat.. they do but HP is not paying that hefty price.
This is my tracking from start to finish: Shipment starts on bottom of page in Shanghai China. The whole time from China to my door is only 5 days.. that includes weekends when they don't deliver. That, is simply amazing.. Look closely at my tracking info.. the turn around times are quick.. Once shipped, it in the air almost constantly until it reaches your local sort facility. It appears on the tracking that its only on the ground in Alaska, and INDIANAPOLIS for a few hours. I am impressed with FED X international shipments. Also I may be off one day since this probably originated across the international date line.. So on the 22 when it shipped, it was probably only the 21th here. So it may be six days.. thats still very good.

Yes that is probably the case if they manage to ship it out on a Mon, or Tue. Seems like these things always come after the weekend. Both my original and replacement system with Dell came on a Monday. I think that may be how they schedule it. That would be amazing if you did get it the same work week. From that distance that would be impressive. Does HP always just ship out Fed X overnight? It appears that everyone is getting this upgrade.. I know I did not pay for it. If it is, those that paid extra for overnight are getting jipped.
-
They just delivered my dv6500t!
Can't wait to get home tonight and power it up.
-
The last time I ordered an HP laptop was 2 years ago and I got the same thing then which was 2 day shipping even though I did not pay for it so yes I think they do give it to everybody. I just think they should not offer the 2 day option because some people get it and it is just a waste of money because it makes no difference. People that don't get it are happy and people that did pay for it are not happy when they realize they wasted their money.
-
I got it!!! came around 9:30AM this morning.. I have to stay home today anyway since the A/C guy is going to install a new master cool on roof. When I opened this baby up it was sooo beautiful. The 1420 Dell has nothing on the dv6500t. Yes, I don't have the Hi res but the screen is so nice.. no grain and bright. I am uninstalling stuff right now. Got the internet going etc.. It appears there is more crap on it then I would like.. I saw the Yahoo tool bar in IE.. thats going to go quick. I think I will toast the HP advisor.. do we really need that?. I really like the black keyboard.. Although the space bar as reported is a bit loud. The Dell may actually have a little better feel on the keyboard.. but the HP overall design is years ahead of dells. I wish I could make the desktop icons a little smaller.. any way to do that? I think I may start a new thread with some pictures.. very happy now.. I think this will be a keeper.
-
my system shipped in two days starting form shanghai
and it arrived earlier than my esd so .. yea :]
-
My dv6000t has been in production for the last 2 days with a est ship date sept 3rd, I was hoping that I would get it this week but I don't think it's gonna happen. Oh well as long as its not a lemon like the Dell 1520 that I returned I will be happy to wait.
-
Well since this evening HP order status is showing it has shipped but when irun the tracking number through FED EX it says no information available so I am just hoping that FED EX hasn't updated thier info and that there is not a problem.
