Congrats! I hope you enjoy the zd7000 and please let us know how things go with it. That's a good deal on such a notebook. All the reviews I've seen for the zd7000 are positive, it seems to be one of the most popular desktop replacements out there.

Hehe I guess when I retyped it I may have put the decimal in the wrong spot. I am gonna check my bank account to make sure they didn't try to take out $17k (key word was try ).

I got it for that price from hpshopping.com and used the posted 10% off deal that expired 1/31/04. I also didn't have to pay shipping on the machine so that helps alot (especially when we are talking about this kind of money). I actually just got it today and it got here two weeks quicker then they said it would. I'm sure they give you a later ship date just so your happy when it gets there earlier (It worked). If you are interested in the zd7000 another great forum (like this one) is zd7000forums.com

email me at: [email protected] or just post a message here if you ned any advise on this computer.

I'm trading my zd7000 for a zv5000z after 3 months. Reasons, in order of importance for me:
    1. The zd's screen is low resolution, which I believe equals low quality images, especially noticeable with text. It strained my eyes after a couple hours.
    2. zd's desktop pentiums run hot, which means the fans are always on and always blowing either warm or hot air.
    3. I had problems running some games (Halo, especially) on their highest settings.
    3. My wife hated the touchpad.
    4. The full-size key pad is off-center. I never got used to that and had to look down every time I wanted to return my hands to the keys.
    5. It turned out that I wanted more than one hour out of the battery when playing a dvd movie.
Not all reviews of the zd7000 are positive. Take a look at CNET reviews: cnet.com/HP_Pavilion_zd7000/4852-3121_7-30557633.html?pn=1&tag=top&fb=0&ob=1 .
