    Compaq Presario V6000TX Specs:

    Genuine Windows XP Professional
    Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo T5300(1.73GHz/2MB L2Cache)
    15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)
    2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 950 w/Ports
Imprint Finish + Microphone + QuickPlay
    Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network w/Bluetooth
    120GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
    Super Multi 8X DVD+/-R/RW w/Double Layer Support
    6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    Microsoft(R) Works 8.0
HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

I figured not bad for $897.15(w/o tax and ship) as this will be my college laptop as Im finally getting away from my old tower..

I did some research in my price range (under $1000) and liked the Compaq more then the Dell 1501, though I really would have loved the AMD 64x2 TL-56 but will just have to hope I got a good Intel and not the ones I heard stories about  Anybody else have the 6000TX?

XP Pro was a requirement for UTA's architecture program for Fall 07 so I had to look for XP laptops and did not want to void warranties or run dual OS.

    :(

I was looking at the HP Express Card/54 Remote Control and it says it will work for the presario V6000, so does that mean it will work with the V6000TX as well?

I just want it NOW! but till then I plan to buy alot of crap for it//

I already had parts waiting to be installed when my laptop finally got to me. You might want to call HP tomorrow and ask them about the remote situation.

Yes, it will work with the V6000tx, since it is the same series as the V6000 but for a different model.

feels very soild, very little monitor flex, though I wish the monitor would latch shut  the imprint finish shows fingerprints like crazy.. though it looks too good to ever go without the imprint finish..

performance wise it boots up way faster than my dad's AMD Athlon 3700+ 64 with the same amount of ram and my laptop has tons more programs to load..

runs NFS Underground easily but just ordered vice city and most wanted for real cheap on eBay so newerish games are on their way!! :D

That is because the V6000TX is just the outgoing V6000T with XP Pro put on it (instead of Vista). There are cpu option differences, but they both use the same mainboard.

The redesigned logo/imprint finish should appear on the new V6500T (if they ever get around to putting it up on the CTO site). ;)

BTW, Nice unit FX2.3! I would much rather have bought the V6000TX for my aunt instead of the "Vista-fied" dv2000t she ended up with, but unfortunately it was not available when I was shopping. :(

I always preferred the look of the Compaqs, even the older generation.........

I noticed the new logo in the F572US( Newegg link) which is basically a V6000Z series notebook. So, thats why I was a bit surprised to see the old logo in the V6kTX. In any case IMO the old logo looks much better than the new one.

Something looks strange about the laptop pics in that NewEgg link. Where is the centered power button & volume control beneath the screen that is prominent on all Compaq V6000 models that I've seen previously? The unit seems different, as if it were a cross between the V6000 and some HP/Compaq SBO model. I dunno, what do you think?

    :)

Ohh...Missed that. But given the F5** seems to be more low budget systems the quicklaunch/volume/mute buttons probably got axed. I wonder if the actual hardware still exists and they just switched the top grill/cover. rest of the laptop seems to be the same as the v6kz.

Wonder is future Compaqs will still have the Quicklaunch software/buttons. Also, I wonder why they started branding these as the F5xx series. Plus, the Santa Rosa based Compaqs along with the V3000z are on sale outside the US...whats holding them from bringing these to the US??

Actually I was in error about the power button (as it has always been on the left side), I meant the "media" button.

I guess that HP may further downgrade the newest Compaqs, pushing them even more into the budget catagory. Either that, or this new "F5xx" nomenclature now denotes the seriously decontented models (keeping the "V6xx" branding for higher-end models).

I think there is an owner's manual for the V6500T up on HP Support, so I'll have to take a closer look at it to be sure............

I am able to run NFS most wanted on High but it run slow, since I only have
1gb of ram. When I upgrade to 2gb it should run well. I also have been playing NSF underground on High and it runs great, just for sound that some times sound a little slow when starting a race. I used XP untill last month, and after upgrading to Vista games still play great.

And BTW the new Compaq logo looks wear, I don't like it that much. I guess I need to get used to it, but it could be better.
