    Hi Folks,
    New Member - 1st post:
I've been lurking on the notebook forum for about 2 weeks, trying to learn more about HP (+ other brands) notebooks. I finally settled on the HP DV2000Z as the right choice for me and ordered it today from HP; delivery in about 2 weeks. Planned use is mainly for business/leisure travel -- web surfing, movies, games, email, and a little work now and then. I'm looking forward to many years of fast reliable performance from this sleek beauty. At last I can finally retire my little Sony 10" Vaio...still looks good as new, but oh soooo sloooow.

Also, I hope the express upgrade for Vista doesn't require that I install Vista right away. I much prefer to wait a long time before installing a new OS; let the early adopters (beta testers) find the bugs during the first year or two.
    Cheers all.

Well congrats, it is an amazing computer. I have the SEC screen, and to me it looks very good. In my opinion, if you wanted to play game you should have gotten the DV200T, with an Nvidia GO 7200 128MB Turbocache. It is better than the NVIDIA 6150.

It arrived today, about 5 days earlier than expected.
This one came with an AU Optronics (AUO) screen and looks great.
And now the set up process begins...to be continued.

apart from the integrated bluetooth STILL not working, I really like my dv200z. The 14" 16:9 wide screen is short enough to fully flip up on the train (unlike a 15" 4:3). The sound is good, the picture is great and it does everything I want it too.

My only feature complaint is that when I ordered mine, you couldn't get anything but th 6150. Of course that means I'll just need to get an 8800 for my workstation :D

    A data point of comparison:
Earlier this week in my office I took delivery of a new Dell model 620 notebook (for business use), which comes with a 14.1" Philips screen, internal CDRW/DVD drive, wireless, 6-cell battery, etc. For as long as I can remember, my company has leased only Dell computers, so I didn't have a choice...every 3 yrs we get a new Dell model.

Let me tell you...the Dell is noticeably heavier, boring in appearance, and the screen is far inferior in terms of sharpness and brightness when compared to my HP DV2000Z. It made me appreciate this HP notebook more than I realized -- it's really a great little notebook and it looks pretty cool too.

So what is the defect of SEC4242(mine) screen? I don't see anything wrong with it. Crisp and bright enough to me anyway. Shorter life time?
