Hi, I just ordered a DV2000t from hp.com and I was wanting to get Vista Premium but with the lowest amount of ram because HP price gauges theirs.

But my choices were either 512mb with Vista Basic or 1GB (2x512mb) with Vista Premium. I was wondering if any of you all know a way that I am able to get it with 512mb with Vista Premium? Thanks!

Usually HP controls what other resellers are allowed to configure.

$100 for 1GB isn't that bad...I cannot find a decent pair of sticks for less than $80 ($85-90 after shipping and tax) on NewEgg. An extra $20 to have the RAM covered by the warranty I'd take it.

Actually it was $100 to add another 512mb to make a total of 1GB, which is a total rip when you can get crucial 2GB (2x1GB) for $169.

hehe...HP is great. I just called them and asked if they could install 1 dimm of 1GB instead of 2x512mb, the rep said it is not possible for them to change the configuration since it is three days in production already. I told the rep that it is outrageous to pay $100 for just a stick of 512mb just so that I can get Vista Premium, so she said that she will credit me back $120 so that I can use it to purchase the 2GB memory somewhere else. HP has great customer service if you get connected to a good rep!

Yeah, they force you into certain things just because, well, they can.

For vista prem, you have to get it with a gig of ram.

want the nvidia 7400? well, you are gonna have to buy the imprint finish.....with microphones.

how about if i dont want any **** mics?

Heh, heh. I'm with you on that.

On the DV9000, if you want the Ultra Brightview screen you must get the webcam. Why would I want a cheap integrated webcam?? All I want is the upgraded screen! lol
