I bought a V2311US from Best Buy 3 weeks ago (ML-28 1.6 processer), 60 GB 4200 RPM drive, 2 x 256 MB Ram, DVD ROM/CDRW combo drive, 6 cell battery for $772 (after taxes and rebates).

Loved the feel of this machine so much but have been 2nd guessing not getting more upgrades.

The new machine I ordered today has ML-37 2.0 Ghz w/ 1 MB L2 cache, 80 GB 5400 RPM drive, 1 x 512 MB Ram, DVDRW/CDRW drive, 12 cell battery for $893 after taxes and rebates (and it comes with an HP printer as well)...not bad for $121 difference...

I already have a 12 cell battery and 1 GB Crucial stick...hopefully it will ship in 9 days...

I shouldn't have any problems selling my V2311 for $700 or...

Congrats on your purchase! I don't think you'll have any problems selling your old Compaq for that price.

Congrats, the v2000z sounds like a great deal. I'm also tempted to sell my zv6000 and get in on the v2000z deals at OD. I love that its 2lbs lighter than my zv6000 and has a Turion upgrade, but I think I'm going to wait a little bit longer.

Could you please post all of the options you ordered. I went into Office Depot yesterday and the best price after rebates and taxes for the system options you listed was not close to $893. It should be the same at all the stores.

    Thanks!

    Here are my specs:
    AMD Turion 64 ML-37 (2.0GHz)
    14.0 WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x768)
    512MB Memory (1x512MB)
    Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home Edition with SP2
    80GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
    DVD+/-RW/R & CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer Support
    ATI RADEON(R) XPRESS 200M
    54g(TM) 802.11b/g WLAN w/ 125HSM/SpeedBooster(TM)
    12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    Microsoft(R) Works/Money

I also used a $30 Officemax coupon to bring my total out-the-door cost to $1293 w/tax.

there are 4 rebates that total $300 from Office Depot.

there is another $100 rebate for buying a 64 bit laptop (hint: check out that wallet site and do a search on turion).

    $1293 - 400 = $893.

I think he just meant that if you wanted to sell your other notebook you could do it on the forums here.

Thanks, now I understand what you did. Even with only the $300 in rebates, this machine seems to be the best for the money.

Lol...that's how I took his post as well. I thought he was reprimanding you for trying to sell the notebook then I realized he was just telling you that you could list it in the other part of the forum.

funny how things can be so easily misinterpreted. :)

Also, does anyone know where I can get either an Office Depot, Officemax or Staples coupon that's printable to use at my local store?

    Thanks

Can you do this online, or do you have to go into the store? And also, do you have to mention different rebates? Or are they already known? That is one nice notebook for the money. Probably the best you can get for the money.

$300 in rebates is available when you configure the computer in-store. Don't forget to add one of the qualifying printers as well.

The $100 rebate for buying an AMD turion notebook can be found at fatwallet.com and search for turion. You'll find the link for the $100 AMD/notebook rebate.

Gives a total of $400 off. I'm trying to find out how to get a printable Officemax or Staples coupon to get more off.

Just one more quick question... are the $300-400 off only for the V2000Z, or could you use it for another Turion based notebook such as the L2000?

    Thanks,

    Will

Print out the $100 mail-in mentioned above and it will tell you the qualifying notebooks and AMD chips. I don't remember if the $300 in rebates at the store is for other computers as well. I assume it is because same of the rebates are for doing a Compaq/HP and printer package I think.

You have to do it instore...but to make it easier, you can configure the notebook on techdepot.com. click on customize, then notebooks. on of the 3 notebooks that display, there is link at the bottom to view other HP notebooks. click on that and then select the V2000Z.

Once you configure it and go through all 5 steps, it will give you a configuration number (ignore the prices here).

Take that number to Office Depot and once they key it in, it should have the sale price and they will print out the rebates (which are just PDF's which can be found on TECH DEPOT as well)...

There is some useful info in that fatwallet thread, especially about the video card upgrade...if you are considering this lappie, I would read it...

I had to cancel my original order Sunday and re-order yesterday because I did not order the productivity ports (which is the 6 in 1 reader, the firewire port and an extra USB 2.0 port). This is well worth the $25 IMO...

based on my V2311, the video is 128MB shared (which can be configured in the BIOS)...there was/is some discussion about shared versus dedicated memory between the base and upgrade ATI200M cards...

I can't decide if it's worth getting bluetooth or not. From the review on here, the Intel wifi is much better than the broadcom. I think i'd rather have the intel with speedbooster option rather than the broadcom with bluetooth. I have a USB bluetooth dongle for my desktop already. I guess I could just take that with me if I was traveling. Lol...I guess I just solved the problem myself.

    Does Staples offer this too?

I also get 5% teacher discount @OD. Wonder if that will work...

Do you have to buy a printer to get one of the rebates??? I really don't need one.

The $100 rebate from AMD then should wherever you purchase an AMD.

I got 2 sticks of the 512 PNY ram from the Staples "deal" and they are going back. Even though my v2000z came with Samsung ram and the PNY is also Samsung my system is very unstable with the 512 installed. I am going to check my local Staples and see if they have PNY with different chips on them to see if that makes a difference. I added a 256 of PNY using Spicek (sp) chips from another laptop and it works fine.
