Great to hear you ordered Postal.
    1. What is fatcash? Is that something we can get off the internet too?

    2. Also, how did you get the $100 mail-in-rebate? I'm looking at the zt3000 too. On HP's shopping site, it only lists a $50 mail-in-rebate.

    Thank you in advance.

Those are the two $100 rebates I know of, you can only use one though.

Fatcash is an online thing that'll get you about 3% off. Basically how it works I think is that they send you to HP through a link from their site (the same page that you would have used in the first place by yourself) and get paid a commission, part of which they share with you. All you have to do is go to www.fatcash.com , sign up for the service and be sure to go through their link. There are more detailed explanations of how to do this, check here and in the x1000 forums (http://www.x1000forums.com). Based on reviews from other people it seemed legit, and I can confirm that I got a legitamate HP tracking number that I can use on HP's website, and confirmation emails from hp's site, so I dont think its a scam or anything.

Sorry to say that the prices have gone up since I ordered mine [xx(], my configuration is now $100 more than it was yesterday, they're charging more for the wireless and hard drives now. You might want to wait until closer to august maybe, I cant see the prices going up again.

Also, an important note to anyone using the APP discount. When they send the confirmation email, they add an eds_ tag to your name, thanks to a retarded coder at hp's site. To work around this, do not use your private or school email address. Get two addresses at hotmail, one with an eds_ infront of it, one without. Example - [email protected], [email protected]. Sign up for APP with the non-eds name ([email protected]). Then, after all your order stuff goes through and is processed, the confirmation emails and email that you login with to check your order is the eds email ([email protected]). I got this trick of someone on another forum, hope this helps, it sure helped me.

Good luck with your puchase, if you have any questions feel free to ask me, i've been researching this for over a month now, i'll try to post a minireview on here when I get my zt in a week or so.

Thanks for the info. I will be looking forward to your review of your zt3000 when you get it.

I hope to order soon to ake sure I can use the $100 coupon and will try the $100 rebate instead of the $50 one.

    Thank you in advance.

I hope not. I am really looking for the PC2700 RAM with a 5400HDD. This is why I am choosing the ZT3000. I too read it was PC2100 once, but someone had PC2700. I just wanted to make sure the latest zt3000's are coming with PC2700 automatically or do you have to request it.(?)

    Thank you in advance.

One more thing Postal (or anyone that can answer), is the memory (RAM) PC2100 or PC2700 on the zt3000?

    Thank you in advance.

I believe the memory used in the ZT3000/X1000/NX7000 series notebooks are all PC2100. I could be mistaken, but that's what was used in the NX7000 I had. I think that's what I also read on some of the posts.

Postal- that thing you were talking about with the APP discount, why do you have to do that? Is it something you did to get the educators discount given you weren't going to college or something? Let me know cause I will be using the APP discount if I get a zt3000 to take off to college
    Thanks

    Thanks vb,

You are right. I just got off the phone with an HP sales guy. He confirmed that the zt3000 comes with PC2100 at 266MHz instead of the PC2700 at 333MHz I was looking for. I have probably read too many forums and systems and just got it confused. I was for sure that I read in a forum where someone had ordered a zt3000 with PC2700. The sales guy said this was not an option.

This is a little disappointing [ :(]and poses another question that I will place out on this forum. Why is it so hard to find a notebook with the PC2700 333Mhz RAM with a 5400rpm HDD (along with a PM, XPP, WiFi b/g) in one notebook for $1500 or less?

    Thanks.
