    Hi,

i am a newbie on this, looked on some websites but really dont get it much.

I have a Compaq v6210us notebook running at 2.0 ghz with its AMD Turion 64Processor MK 36 and wished to overclock it up to 2.5 ghz

i wanted to ask how can this be done, or is it possible to even do it?

    thanks

Do you have an Nvidia graphics card? if so, then you can use NTune to OC your processor along with your video card.

It is possible, but be aware of the risks of overclocking laptop hardware. Most laptop cooling systems can't cope with any more heat, and you will not only risk damaging the CPU, but also any surrounding components as well as the motherboard itself. I doubt whether you'll be able to hit 2.5GHz. But, its your call.

Actually, I would undervolt, rather then undervolt that processor(trust me, I have one).
You can get temps of about 30C idle, which is better then 50C idle with OCing, right?

my notebook is in the office and the AC is on all day and it sits on a Antec notebook cooler, does this help? even so if it overheats and burns out i ave a special guaruntee on it. it can be replaced for a new 1.

what do u mean? please care to explain more.

    thanks for the replies.

Undervolting is a process in which you decrease the voltage going to the proc, some have different tolerance levels then others though.
    It DOES NOT effect performance.
Check the hardware forum, theres a guide somewhere in there.
