Just got mine and I'm already playing with the clock speeds :D :D

i didn't bother with a full reinstall. i got rid of all the bloatware, fixed the stupid fn key function keys thing, and it runs fine.

i didn't get the 10.3 preview driver due to a lot of instabilities i keep hearing about. gonna wait for it to come out.

i'm still using the original driver version that came with the computer.

i got amd gpu tools, and oced to 520/1050 just to start.

so far my temps never went above 70C

how do i keep this clock speed when i restart?

also, i notice the default settings downclock the gpu when it's not doing anything intensive, and they go up to 500/800 when they need to.

if i lock in my oc when i restart (if i can), will it still downclock when it doesn't need the speed?

btw, the driver just crashed at 550/1050. could be the default drivers i'm using.

running bad company 2 at 30-45fps on 1080 with everything on med and effects+textures on high and dx11. my clock is now 540/1040. 10 points seemed to make it stable. lol

GPU stability is not a constant between same GPUs. Some tolerate more than others. My 4830 can take 600 and 950 only. 600 and 1000 gives me artifacts. 1100 crashes. 1200 runs with artifacts. Still, not all chips have the same tolerances, some might take a little more, some others won't take the load and crashed at the exact same number. It is due to all chips not being the exact same amongst GPUs.

About locking the overclock. If using AMD GPU Clock Tools, it won't lock it. You'll need to relaunch it everytime and do it manually.

what should i use to lock in the clock speeds?

also, if i lock in the clock speed, will it automatically reduce if the gpu isn't being heavily used?

I have 3 OC profiles for each purpose ( Power Saving , Normal Usage and High Performance - 150/250, 350/450, 570/1050)
In order to keep your clock speed on next startup create a shortcut and put the clock speed of your desire and finally put it in startup folder

AMD GPU Clock Tools wont lock it, and if locked, I see no reason why it should downclock, after all, it is locked not to ;)

Manually is the only way I know...and works the best...I keep control of the temps like that too.

can you do a firmware flash to the new clock speed?, aka, hack the ATi firmware?
