Hey all. Does anybody think we will be able to get better performance benchmarks out of the GPU considering the new Penryn systems run at lower temps + are more powerful?

I think the GPU is so underpowered. Man if the dv2700t only came with a 8600gt.....dreaming....

Most youll get is a 10-15% performance increase which isnt that much, it will eat up more battery and increase GPU temps by abit

Well the performance of the GPU has little to do with the CPU... (unless the CPU is weaker and bottlenecks, but that's hardly ever the case). I don't think you'll be able to overclock any higher than you already can.

Ah I hear that. If HP would offer a dam mainstream card (8600) in a mainstream sized (15.4") notebook, they would be GOLDEN. I love the look and feel of them, and they already have a huge base in big name stores. Honestly, why cant they make just a little effort and put a decent card in a regular laptop, like almost everyone else does? *sigh*

anyway, I would also be interested in the OC abilities of the 8400 in a notebook.

Unforunately size is everything for laptops. If they could jam a 8600GT in there, id swap mine anyday. The size and heat the 8600 GT dissapates is way too much for a 14.1"

The 8400GS does come with 256mb dedicated RAM now..

Actually, there are a quite a few 14.1" laptops that come with the 8600M GT (Zepto, Asus). I don't remember exact model names, but they are available meaning that it is possible to put this card in a laptop of this size.

Sorry i was actually refering to the HP 14.1" series. Im sure Asus can do it with their chassis design but they are pricey. HP's design probably doesnt support the 8600 and its just an entertainment laptop not a gaming lappy afterall

Most company's offer the 8600 in their 15.4" systems. even if it is an entertainment laptop, people would like to have the option of being able to game a little.

I think the Lenovo Ideapad Y410 and Y510 in Asia has the GPU NV8600GT with 512mb of dedicated ram?

I might be wrong but some Dell XPS 1330 has the same GPU and it is even smaller than the HP Dv2700T, so why how come only Dell and Lenovo can make it with the gPU?

And why do US version of the Lenovo Ideapad Y410 and 510 not support any discrete GPU?

Is the 8400GS much slower than the 8600GT ?

And if the 8600GT was in the DV2700T , would it make it much hotter or noisier?
