Figured out how to do this. You have to go to www.hp.com and go to the drivers section for the dv8000t. Download the previous bios.. i think it's f.09a. Flash to it. I'm using mobileforce 84.56 drivers. With the older bios and non-HP driver I've been able to successfully overclock Best yet was a 3dmark05 score of 3950 at 470 core, 420 memory. Big improvement from the 3530 I was getting at stock frequencies.

I've only been running like this for a few hours tonight, but doesn't seem to be any issus with running off the older bios so far.

    Have fun!

    ^good question.

Wintery, besides the unability to overclock with the HP 84.54's, how are you liking the mobileforce 84.56's over the 84.54'?

Winterymix, I tried a google search for mobileforce 84.56 and couldn't find them.

Could you post a link please, thanks.

Yeah the old bios doesn't "support" he 7600..but why does it need to? As long as your driver knows what card you have so Windows knows, your bios doesn't really need to know. As far as I can tell, the only thing it does if it supports the card is report it correctly to software that displays your hardware for you. So if you use Everest or something like that, it might not display your video card correctly.. but who cares?

The mobileforce drivers seem to work great. I've had no video glitches and I'm keeping my overclock at 470/415 which gives me a 3915 in 3dmark05..I've had no problems with it so far.

You can get the mobileforce drivers at www.tweaksrus.com

If my sentances are all running together it's because it's 4:30am and i'm exhausted :) If anyone finds a driver that performs better or allows a more aggressive overclock...let me know.

435 on memory is awesome. I can't seem to get mine above 420. I might have to try that driver and flash back to the current bios. Thanks Illmatic.

Yo, I'm lovin the 91.31 mobileforce drivers.

Everything is running nice, Games are running sweet, I made my Control Panel look like the old one, so now I have no more complaints.

The way I figure it, we have a new videocard (Geforce 7 series) We should not be using the 80 series drivers because the 90 series has a lot of updates/improvements/etc for our cards you know.

I now run my card 24/7 with the O/C settings of 465/425 just to be safe. I have a laptop cooler and my temps are great.

By the way wintery, I'm no longer getting any weird glitches. Counter-Strike was the only game I was seeing that weird black box, but that's barely showing up now. Every game is running glitch-free with the new current F13A bios, so give that a shot.

That's all for now, Good Luck, let's keep each other updated on any new information we find =)

Hmm, i tried the 91.31's with the current bios and ran into major problems. When I tried to OC using the "find optimal frequencies" option in the nvidia menu, it sent the clocks soaring and started causing my notebook to just shut-off. Then I couldn't get back to Windows without it shutting itself off...not even in safe mode. I went back to the 84.25's on the old bios and it's working ok.
