    Hi,

Becuase of some junk that was on my computer that I couldn't get rid of, I recently did a PC recovery on my dv5000z. When I look at the Hard Drive though, there isn't any more free space available than before I did the recovery. I think I had about 40GB of free space at the time before I did the recovery and I have the same amount now. It was weird becuase a bunch of the programs I had previously installed before recovery were still there afterwards but they were just dead links. Anyway does anybody know why I don't have any extra free space? Is this normal? When I did the recovery I didn't have to put in any of the DVD's that I made when I first got the computer. What are those DVD's for then? Thanks for the help I really appreciate it.

Are you sure that installed Windows on a freshly formatted partition. It may be that you have installed the new Windows on the same partition. To resolve this, you will have to run the recovery again. This time make sure that you format the hard disk, and then install Windows on it.

Did you do a destructive or non destuctive recovery? If some of your old programs and files are on the disk then it is most likey you did a non destructive recovery which leaves remants of old programs on the drive. There should be an advanced option during the recovery or you should have been able to select the type of recovery right at the begining.
