In my V2000z my one things that worries me is HDD temp over long period (especially like I kept playing songs for few hours along with running couple of servers) and also left palm area becomes warm( When I do not use my Cooler pad) Since HDD is below the PCMCIA slot I was thinking how about having PCMCIA slot cooler which can cool HDD. Some one heard my thought and made a product. Here is the review

    http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Reviews/3DCOOL_LaptopCooler/

Cooler pad is good, but it is bulky and only main part I see in these laptops becoming more than usual temp is HDD. And this one takes power from PCMCIA and can be turned on/off thru windows. This also should be able to keep left palm area cool.

I do not know pricing/availability details.

    Very intriguing!

I haven't been able to find it anywhere, as you have probably found out. If you look at the review date - April 26th, 2000...maybe that's why you can't find it.

    Thanks for posting. :)

EDIT: The only issue I have is that the vents are on the top of the card...my hard drive is under my PCMCIA card slot.

Then we should start looking for it. I wonder how noisy this thing is and most of all why 3dcool stopped offering it on their site..

Yes, you are right, that is Year 2000 review. Probably the reason we could not find the it anywhere else.

And I guess I am wrong "Some one heard my thought and made a product"!! It was made 5 years ago even when I did not even thought about it. :-<

Yes, looks like the vents are on top. Desparate ones can fix it with a dremel I guess!!

I will keep checking to see if anyone is still making this product.! :)

Yes, I thought about it( using old PCMCIA Modem card lying around), but I did not have good fan to go with it. I will try when I have time.

But this guys is connecting CPU fan from PCMCIA power. I have no clue why he has to go that far for 5V feed, it is available with USB( unless it is 10 years old lappie without a USB connector).

That thing looks retarded. Way too bulky for me to ever consider, even if my laptop is a little too toasty.

It's your choice. You want a big piece of junk sticking out of your notebook, that’s your choice. But I have a notebook to be mobile. Something like this would REALLY get in the way.

BTW I had experience with a desktop version of this and it sucked. It didn’t lower the temp a single degree and it was a power hog. But because of the size of a notebook the unit that the OP posted should work, but again it’s too big for my needs.

BTW the desktop variant that I used it this. I wouldn’t recommend this model to a single person.

I really did not understand what you are talking about.
    What is this waffer.biz stuff?

I use a Antec cooler at work and CPU temp stays around 40C(instead of 55C) and HDD temp stays around 38C(instead of 48C).

If available this PCMCIA cooler uses very little power( Typical .25watts) and you will not find any significant battery time difference. And it is small and portable unlike desktop cooler.
