After returning the laptop for the third time for repairs on the fan and the screen, they send it back, and the fan works, but the screen is still broken. They didn't even fix it.

I have some weird symptoms... I CAN connect my computer to an external moniter and it works fine, but the resolution is off unless I adjust the lid to almost completely closed, and it finally detects 1080p res. This is literally the 5th time I've had to return this laptop for repairs to HP.... Do you think that if I try hard enough I could just get another laptop, or even better my money back so I can buy something that isn't a POS? Has something like that ever happened before?

What do you mean the screen is broken?

What mode you connecting to monitor ? duplicate or extend.?

If you already start to dislike the machine, just return it and get something else. (unless you brought it at a great discount or something)

Technically if you sent in your laptop 3 times or more you should be able to get a case manager and if the case manager determines you have sent it in so many times he/she will think its a lemon. Then he/she will probably offer you a new laptop that is similar to yours, that is if you are under warranty still.

Wow. Well, what I did was send an email to HP customer support explaining my history with their products, with specific order and return numbers and I expressed my desire and right to get a full refund.

They gave it to me... I'm going to be smart now and use the money to build my own desktop. Did you know that Intel has a 3 year warranty on all of their processors, and ATI and NVidia have similar policies? I had no idea that building your own comp would give you MORE support than buying one from a major manufacturer... Go figure.
