I am planning to purchase an HP laptop, and I was wondering if I could play my PS3 on the dv9700t monitor, either with the 17.0" diagonal WXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1440 x 900)
or 17.0" diagonal WSXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1680 x 1050). Would an HDMI-to-DVI cable work.. or does this model have an HDMI in that I could use instead? What about getting sound to work?

Not possible unless you add a capture card.

Notebooks only have HDMI out.. not HDMI-in

You will need a TV card for it to work. You will need a good one or else it will lag

    I plan to purchase the

    HP ExpressCard Digital/Analog TV Tuner
Record TV programs and watch them on the go. This option also includes media remote control.

    Will this work?

No, that's not high definition. You need a high definition capture card.
