I just received my dv6500t. I have the HP Recovery DVD, but I don't have the Vista Upgrade Anytime DVD. I want to delete the recovery data and partition to free up that space. Is that an okay thing to do, and if so, is there an easy way to do it?

    Thanks for any help!

You can try free partition software, though it might not work 100% with Vista. But since you have recovery discs, just restore if anything goes wrong.

Yeah, it is safe to delete the recovery partition but not before you have burnt the restore discs. HP should have included an app to do this for you. Alternatively you can also delete the partition from Vista disk management menu.

HP's F11 recovery software permits you to do both , the burning of recovery DVD's AND to recover the recovery partition(delete it and add the space to the priamry), after you have burned the recovery disks. It is exceeding simple.

Go to this page and view the info...(it is for the 9500, but it should be the same for your unit too.)

Why you need special software to delete the recovery partition if Vista will do it for you easily in Administration Menu? Just get there and do it. You can even merge two partitions! But make recovery discs first!!!
