    Hi

I need some help. I want to replace the screen on my laptop which is currently 768p to 1080p. Can you help ?

I was told about this cable :

LCD LVDS Cable of HP Pavilion DV6-6000 FHD 50.4RN10.022 - LCD LVSD Cable - Parts - Computer

Can anyone tell me if it will work on a DV6 6053ea and support 1080p (it does look like so though)

As for the screen - I am at a loss. Can someone point me in the right direction as to where I can get a 1080p screen ?

    **Edit

I opened up my laptop and took a look at the back of it and it says replace with HP Spare 640445-001 Looking online with that number will only get me my existing screen, I was looking for a 1080p that would fit?

    @SympathyRS
The Screen is just fine, I upgraded a HP Pavilion g6 Laptop last Year from 720p glossy to this one, so it is matt and Full HD, there is a glossy one from Optronics, too, if you prefer.

    You may read this Thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...550475-15-6-fhd-1920x1080-panels-reviews.html

and this for Installation, its very detailed:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...-hp-pavilion-dv6-6xxx-screen-replacement.html

Remember, that you have to use another Display Cable when upgrading from a HD Screen ( which is 720p )

    Regards

You find more Information about the Screens in this Thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell-xps-studio-xps/554402-dell-xps-l501x-lcd-display-swap.html

It is about a Dell XPS, but the Screens are just the same.

Generally, a matte Display has a matt Surface, so it does not reflect much from the surrounding, sunlight etc, but colours seem not that bright
in comparison to a glossy Display. Most Notebooks today are shipped with a glossy HD Display. If you use your Notebook only for Gaming, Movies etc Indoors
you can get along with a glossy FullHD, if you need it for work, study etc and outdoors you should take the matte.

I will go for the glossy HD display as I never play games or go outside with the laptop.. i have a Xperia TX and PS3 for that....

Buying a screen for another laptop threw me a bit... I didn't know if a screen for the Dell XPS would fit a DV6. Some of those sites are in the U.S.A and I would probably have to pay import tax.. I would rather buy the screen in the E.U somewhere, it would work out cheaper.

For the Display Cable you can use HP Part Surfer, they ship fast and there will be no extra costs, Hp Part-Number is: 665305-001, you have to choose your Country, paste the Part-Number, you can check compatibility, too - et voila.

    HP PartSurfer

well, back to the Display, I guess you misunderstood me, I provided the Link for detailed Information about the different Screens, but the Screens discussed in the XPS Thread are used and aproved in other Notebook Brands, too, for example the AUO B156HWo1 V.4 is used in an Alienware etc.
If you go for glossy, you can order the AUO B156HW01 V.7, that would fit your DV 6.
I got mine through ebay, you can search with the Part Number, and be sure you order not a Replacement Screen for XXX- Notebook, but the exact Brand like AUOptronics with the right Part Number. Otherwise it may happen, that you get a worse Sreen or one, that might not fit.

    Greetings

Thanks very much, I was confused earlier. I think I can get it on EBay. I was looking at the following :

    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/360529992934...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_4252wt_1031

If it comes without any dead pixels I think I will go ahead with the order.

Did you already order? 10 out of 11 Ebay-Results UK/IE say they might ship a "compatible" screen, if they don´t have the exact model.
If you could get along with that........?
    Otherwise:
AUO B156HW01 V.7 V7 LED 15.6" FHD LAPTOP SCREEN NEW LCD | eBay

But you might get the exact AUO B156HW01 V.7 too, or you can return it anyway, cause the above Offer is also the most expensive.

P.S. It says under specification section it has matte surface...but the v.7 is glossy, maybe you should contact them before you place your order.

    Hi

No I didn't order yet. I sent him an email asking if there was any dead pixels and if it was compatible with the DV6 6053ea. I expected it to be glossy but I will fire off another EBay question and ask him.

Thanks for the help... yes its not cheap but if I got it shipped from the U.S I would have to pay additional tax.

Is there any problem with the graphics card supporting 1080p ? I have a AMD Radeon HD 6490M which has 1GB of video RAM I believe

He got back to me and told me the above... looks like he is a waste of time.

The Ebay link you posted is expensive but if its 100% the right screen and glossy then maybe its the best option.

Yes, that makes sense. I wondered how they could sell it that cheap. You can find the same Screen on ebay Germany, it´s a bit cheaper, but 9 Day Shipping, I provide you the Link so you can compare.
Graphics Card should not be a Problem, it will support FullHD resolution, I guess you have a HDMI Output? So, you can hook up you Laptop to a larger external full HD Monitor without any Problem; important is the mainboard connector, too, a few years ago new Laptops had 30 Pin connectors, but yours has a 40 Pin, for sure. It might be not powerful enough to run actual Games on full resolution smoothly.
There was a Sony Vaio Z Serie with Full HD Screen and ATI 6470m ( or still is ) and some HP ProBooks have HD+ (1600x900) Screens with ATI 6470m, for example.

    Here comes the Link:

B156HW01 V.7, 15,6", LED, glossy, Full HD, neu! | eBay

    Cheers

The 9 day shipping is ok, thanks for posting it. The extra screen space would free a lot of things up for me and the laptop is doing fine in every other way so it might be well worth the €100 for the screen. I kind of expect there are no dead pixels ?

I think I am all set to go ahead with the order from the German EBay site to get the screen.

However I am still a bit unsure about the cable to connect the screen and DV6 6053ea. I don't know much about it but was told on this forum that the cable needs to be a 40 pins LVDS socket. I sent an email off to the suppliers of the cable to clarify if it will work with the 6053ea but nothing 100% yet.

I see that. Well those screens are too expensive or they are only compatible parts and not the actual screen matching the number.

I am still trying to get a firm answer on the cable that will match my laptop and new screen?

As far as I know, there are actually not too many different connectors on the market for new 2011/2012 HP Pavilion Laptops. 40 Pin 2Ch LVDS Cable is right, most Sellers place a FullHD in the discription. What I wanted to say, there are 2 different Cables for HP Dv6 Laptops, one is the single channel LVDS Cable, which might be used in your Laptop, the other one is the FullHD 2Channel LVDS Cable, that is what you are looking for, am I right? The Problem might be, ther are different Part Numbers specify the same cable, there is a HP Part number, there is a Foxconn Number and one from the Seller.

The Link in your first Post specifies the right cable, I give you the Link to HP Partsurfer Ireland, it should be the right cable (and the same), something around 20 Euros +,

    HP PartSurfer

It might be the fastest shipping, 48 Hours UPS, you can select fast shipping it is just 0.01 Euros addition.

    Greetings

The problem with HP PartSurfer is that they never deilver, at least where I live in Ireland. I would have to get it from the states where its cheap. Its worth the wait though if it works.

I went ahead with the order from the URL you gave me. I ordered the cable but it is not dispatched until the 19th of February and it will take up to 10 - 20 working days to arrive to me. I hope the LCD display will work ok as I am only allowed 1 month to return it. I also hope the cable will work, I have no way of knowing?

Hey I got the screen today but he sent me a V.5 instead of a V.7. There is a price difference and V.7 is better. The invoice is for a v.7 but v.5 is written on the back of the screen.

I don't have the cable yet to try it out. It cost me €100 all in. I think I got a bit of a rip off.

Can someone explain to me the difference between V.5 and V.7 ? Should I return it and get a V.7 ?

    Hello all,

I purchased the AUO B156HW01 V.4 and the LCD LVDS Cable of HP Pavilion DV6-6000 FHD 50.4RN10.022. Whenever I installed both, the power plug LED on the laptop just blinks. Is it possible that there's something wrong with the display cable? Or is it the display that's the issue? I've tested another motherboard and the same issue occurs. It'd be much appreciated if someone could help me out!

Update: Got everything to work after ordering the cable from HP Parts instead, I called and placed the order and 15% off.
