I've been interested in the new crop of mini PCIe drives (e.g. Intel Turbo Cache modules) as a cheap upgrade. My 2510p has 2 mini PCIe slots one is used by the 802.11 wireless card and the other is free for a wireless WAN card. What has been keeping me from buying one are the warnings that the drives are specific for certain netbooks. I've seen 2 models on eBay from Runcore that are specifically for Asus and the other for Dell. I found the Patriot Lite Series SSD with 32GB capacity for Asus EeePC (PL32GPEPCSSDR) at my local store so I decided to try it out.
I quickly ran into my first barrier. The 2510p mini PCIe slot is pretty short. Less than 2". The Patriot part is quite a bit longer and a tad wider so it would not fit into the slot. I didn't want to waste the opportunity so I played around and wedge the card into the slot temporarily to boot it up. I then proceeded to boot up the PC and check if the drive was recognized in disk management. Sadly the drive was not recognized.
Anyway I wanted to warn folks thinking of doing the same thing. I'm not sure if the formfactor is the only problem, but as you can see in the pictures below the module was inserted properly. Not sure if the miniPCIe socket is double sided and if it were flat it would work.

Perhaps it would work in a newer HP, say the HDX or DV7T?
Or even a Clevo/Sager notebook.
How much was the card? -
It was around $99.
Patriot miniPCIe EEE-PC SSD doesn't work with 2510p
