Before i go out and order a new hard drive. I want to make sure its the hard drive that is causing the problem, or if anybody else has had this problem?

Last night i got home and booted up my laptop, after everything booted up (VISTA OS), i started hearing a noise in my computer, that literally sounded like there was a robotic critter walking around inside my laptop. I figured it was the hard drive, but it went away. So i did not panic. Later that night i tried to use my rhapsody player and after 2 songs it had an error, and i got a hard disk error message and windows help screen on how to fix it.

So i selected to run a hard drive test next time it booted up (which would take about 3 hours). Well i tried another function on my computer and it just randomly went black and rebooted, and the hard drive test started. Reading the test it says it was fixing or replacing many "corrupted" files for a lack of terms on the hard drive. I was hoping this would solve the problem but it has not.

Sometimes when im on the net, it will seem like its having a hard time loading a page then reset. Also when i hear the "critter of death" noise. i prepare for it to go haywire. and sometimes it does and does not.

I just want to make sure this is a bad hard drive and what im hearing is the components in the hard drive failing. And i need to purchase a new internal hard drive?

P.S. Thank Goodness i save all my important files and documents directly to an external hard drive. so my only pain is going thru the process of installing vista clean like i did when i first brought the computer home.

Sounds like you've diagnosed things correctly.
