    Hi all,

I have an HP Pavilion DV2535 system which has had a fresh install of Windows. I recently noticed that a few of the keyboard function actions don’t work. For example the WWW and Sleep ones work fine but the Brightness decrease/increase ones do nothing.

I still have all the HP software, is there a specific install file for the keyboard which I need to run?

    Thanks

    Try this:

    go to c:\swsetup\qlb\disk1

    and execute setup.exe then re-boot.

This should re-initialize your quick launch buttons.

Does that setup not refer specifically to the quick launch buttons on the top of the laptop though?

My problem is not with the quick launch buttons but with the function keys on the keyboard.

Yeah, but they also control the 'Fn' key functions of the keyboard.

Oh right, thanks for the info.

Have run the setup again and restarted but the fn functions for brightness still do nothing....

    Anyone have any other ideas?

If no one else has any other ideas, you could back up your data and do a system restore or clean install of Vista.

I think I will just learn to live with it to be honest, can't really justify a reinstall for such a small issue.

    Thanks for the help

No problem. IMHO it's not a small issue not being able to control your backlight brightness, especially when you are on battery power.

Also a re-install will give your system a fresh start and will be snappier than ever.
