    Hi All

This is my first post so many thanks in advance to those who hopefully will respond.

i have recently purcahsed a 2nd hand DV9605ea laptop, which had a broken screen

i purchased another screen from ebay and have sort of succesfully replaced it.

however there are a couple of problems. firstly the screen that i took off had only 2 leads that connect to part of the motherboard, and the replacement has 3. i have connected up 2 of the wires and the monitor is working but i can only get a screen resolution of 1024 x 768. i have tried to install the nvidia drivers/software but i keep getting the error message no hardware found for this software. this also happens when microsoft updates tries to install the same software.

i guess that the monitor i am using is obviously from a different spec macine although it is from the dv9000 series.

can i use it with only the 2 cables and still get it up to 1400 x 900?

or can i upgrade the graphics card?

here is a link to show what 2 wires i am refering to.

ok first of all those cables you show on the photo are for the wireless card. They have nothing to do with the video output of the system. Your problem is a driver issue and I guess if you look under your video card propertys it doesn't have the correct drivers. Go to the bios and get the exact part number of the system under notebook number and use that to to find the drivers on the HP website

As walangbebot stated, this is your wireless antena cables. I have read that if you can only connect 2 cables, use 1 and 3.

No, you can not replace the video card.
You can get your part number from the label on the bottom of the machine, or using HP's system information tool.

Is you NVidia card identified properly in control panel/device manager? If not, that is the problem. If it is, you can go to the Nvidia web site and get laptop drivers.
This fix may be as simple as totaly removing your installed drivers, and re-installing.
