The pavilion will be heavily more powerful.
On the other hand the Envy is a bit sleeker, more fancy. Old tech though.
I'd go with the pavilion myself. -
You'd see more traffic (and possibly responses) if you move this to the What Notebook Should I Buy subforum. It would be helpful if you filled this out: http://forum.notebookreview.com/wha...ould-i-buy-form-must-read-before-posting.html
Anyway, just general advice, but I wouldn't touch a 15.6" 768p display with a 20-foot pole unless I was seriously hurting for cash. -

Personally I'd pick the ENVY, as the build quality, design, keyboard and touchpad are better quality. The specs are not as good but the performance difference will probably not be noticed for 99.5% of tasks (maybe Photoshop, and any sort of long rendering/encoding). Overall though there is not much of a functional difference between the two. (Note that I said personally, as it is kind of hard to help you without knowing what you are going to be doing with this computer.)
Filling out the FAQ as noted above is a good idea, as we can really help you that way (and perhaps help you locate another choice). Reply back if you'd like me to move the thread to the "What notebook should I Buy" forum, it tends to have more traffic.
