Hello!
I have a problem with a HP Pavilion dv4000. I have tried to repair windows, and I have also installed windows once more (over the current one to secure that no personal files is deleted).
But when starting up it reboots under loading. at the bluescreen it says "unmountable_boot_volume", and the error code is 0x000000ED.
How is the simplest way to fix this without loosing any private files?
Fixboot?
It's Windows XP Home version.

Tried the fixboot command, but that did not work...
Now the next thing is to try the chkdsk /r command again -
What caused the issue in the first place? Search google for that error code and follow microsoft's instructions.

I would suggest using a Linux Live CD to boot into a Linux desktop and transfer all your personal files onto an external hard drive or other storage media. Then, do a complete reformat and reinstall Windows XP.

The problem is solved.
The problem started after system hang, and restart of the pc.
The system is no stabel again, but after a bacup I will tae a format and a complete reinstall.
