I bought a Customized dv2000t direct from HP in August. The laptop never seemed to have heat issues. I just bought Battlefield 2142, thinking that I now have a laptop that is able to run it (my Desktop wasn't able to). So, upon playing the game for a while, the computer get really hot EVERYWHERE, the left palm rest (HD) and the back near the fan (I'm assuming the Graphics and the CPU). Anyway, the computer gets so hot while playing that the computer shuts off, I'm assuming it's due to some thermal trigger. I turn the computer back on, and I feel the back by the fan, it's really REALLY hot. Up by the power button by the speakers, also REALLY hot. I boot into windows to see that my CPU temperature is 79C. This is after power-cycling the computer. I have the extended 12-cell battery on the computer, which lifts the back end up about an inch. I also put about a 1-cm stack of index cards under the battery for further elevation for circulation. How do I control the heat? There is plenty of space for air circulation, yet the computer still turns off due to the heat. I can't play 2142 until I solve this heat issue. Please help!

Yeah, you could buy a cooling pad. You might also want to read Chaz's cooling
guide for some other methods of cooling down your notebook.
